
Former Bangladesh Bodybuilding Federation general secretary Nazrul Islam passed away at a city hospital on Wednesday after suffering from stomach ulcer for the last two months.
He was 70.Â
Nazrul was laid to rest at the Azimpur Graveyard in the city after his namaz-e-janaza was held at the Bangshal Rukon Uddin Jame Masjid after zuhr prayer.Â
The former ‘Mr Bangladesh’ and a Dhaka University graduate, Nazrul, left behind his wife, two sons, and hosts of well-wishers to mourn his death.Â
‘He had been suffering from stomach ulcer for the last two months. After the condition worsened, he was admitted to Asgar Ali Hospital on Monday night,’ BABBF official Nurul Islam Khan told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ·.Â
Nazrul, who used to compete in bodybuilding, wrestling, and judo events during his sporting career, served the BABBF as a secretary for over 12 years until May 2023.Â
BABBF, Bangladesh Olympic Association, Bangladesh Football Federation, Bangladesh Archery Federation, Bangladesh Handball Federation, Bangladesh Washu Federation, and several other sports organisations mourned his death and expressed deep condolence to his bereaved family.Â
