Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Police emerged as champions in the men’s and women’s categories respectively of the Victory Day Kabaddi that ended at the Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali Handball Stadium in the city on Tuesday.

Navy beat Bangladesh Air Force by 38-36 points, while Police defeated Bangladesh Ansar and VDP by 26-16 points in the finals. 


Navy advanced to the final after a 38-36 point win over  Army in tie-breaker after the first semi-final ended in a 32-32 draw in the stipulated time while Air Force beat Police by 39-36 points in the other semi-final. 

In the women’s category, Police reached the final after defeating Border Guard Bangladesh by 41-35 points in the first semi-final while Ansar defeated Narail District team by 43-18 points in the other semi-final. 

In the men’s section, Navy player Tuhin Tarafdar was adjudged player of the final while his team-mate Nasir Uddin received the best catcher of the tournament award. 

Air Force’s Mizan Ahmed clinched the best raider award while his team-mate Dipayan bagged the player of the tournament title. 

In the women’s section, Police team’s Ishrat Jahan was adjudged player of the final while her team-mates Noborshi Chakma and Sraboni Mollik bagged the best raider and player of the tournament awards, respectively.

Ansar player Smriti Khatun was adjudged best catcher. 

Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation president and inspector general of police Baharul Alam distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest. 

BKF secretary SM Nawaz Shohag and vice-president and inspector general of prisons Brig Gen Syed Md Motaher Hossain were also present on the occasion.
