
A group of Dhaka University students organised a charity concert and an art camp to raise fund for the treatment of Jahangirnagar University student Churanta Saha, who is battling a rare cancer, sinonasal carcinoma, at the Teacher-Student Centre on the campus on Friday.
Diagnosed in October in the past year, Churanto has been undergoing treatment at Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru in India since November.
Despite spending over Tk 26 lakh on chemotherapy and radiation, doctors have now recommended his urgent surgery followed by further treatment. Over Tk 40 lakh is immediately needed.
A drama and dramatics student, Churanto Saha is known for his literary and cultural contributions. His two books have been published in 2019 and 2025 Ekushey Book Fair.
His friends and classmates have urged people from all walks of life to extend support, saying only collective kindness and solidarity can bring Churanto back to life.
The charity concert featured performances by bands and singers, including Sayan, Krishnakoli, Muyiz Mahfuz, Boga Taleb, Krishnapokkho, Ganpoka, Samageet, Akash Gayen, Apon Ghor, Tuhin Kanti, Bhatiyal Shohure, Rimjhim, Joyeta Orpa, Abhishek Roy Archon and Shah Muhammad Shipon, among others.
