
Dance troupes and artistes will celebrate International Dance Day organising a week-long dance festival from April 23 to 29.
Bangladesh Dance Artistes’ Association and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy will jointly organise the week-long dance festival at BSA marking the day.
The festival will feature dance show, dance workshop, seminar, procession, discussion, awards ceremony and others.
The association president Minu Haque made the announcement at a press conference held at the BSA National Theatre Hall Seminar Room on Saturday.
Minu Haque said, ‘We have been celebrating International Dance Day since 1991. The association and the BSA will jointly organise programmes across the country this year.’
She invited people from all walks of life to attend the event.
The association vice-president Selina Haque and the BSA secretary Salahuddin Ahammad will inaugurate the week-long dance festival on April 23.
Ekushey Award-winning dancer and choreographer Shamim Ara Nipa will be honoured on the concluding day of the festival on International Dance Day on April 29.
The association’s organisational secretary Anik Bose, assistant general secretary Atiqur Rahman Uzzal and cultural secretary Kosturi Mukharjee, among others, were present at the press conference.
