A bench of the High Court on Wednesday dismissed the suspension order on the Sylhet Chamber elections following the writ petition filed a president candidate Falah Uddin Ali Ahmed.

The SCCI administrator Saeeda Parveen, however, on Thursday afternoon said that they came to know verbally about lifting the stay order of the chamber elections.

After postponement of the elections, leaders of the both rival panels of the Sylhet Chamber of Commerce and Industry had staged separate demonstrations to demand withdrawal of the ministry order and hold the elections on scheduled date.

A total of 42 candidates From two panels—Sylhet Sammilita Bebsayi Parishad and Sylhet Bebsayi Forum—are contesting for different posts of the executive committee in this time.
