The personal data of some Renault customers in the UK was stolen in a cyberattack on one of its service providers, the automaker said Friday.
Renault Group UK said its third-party data processing provider was targeted by hackers, making it the latest in a series of cyberattacks impacting companies.
The compromised data includes 鈥渟ome or all of: customer names, addresses, dates of birth, gender, phone number, vehicle identification numbers and vehicle registration details鈥, the company said in a statement.
It added that it was an 鈥渋solated incident which has been contained,鈥 and did not impact Renault Group UK systems.
The French-owned carmaker said it was in the process of contacting affected customers and had alerted the relevant authorities.
It comes shortly after British automaker Jaguar Land Rover was directly targeted by a damaging cyberattack last month that halted operations at its UK factories.聽
