Community Bank Bangladesh PLC has recently organised a daylong training workshop on simplifying ‘E-Traffic Management and Fine Collection’ in Rajshahi.

The initiative focused on easing traffic case fine payments under the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, with participation from traffic inspectors and sergeants of the RMP and district police, said a press release on Wednesday.

With this system, traffic fines can now be paid conveniently using POS (Point-of-Sale) machines through any bank card, mobile financial service, or banking app, the release said.

It added that since the lack of collection booths in Rajshahi city and nearby areas had made it difficult for vehicle owners to pay fines after cases were filed, the bank has introduced an upgraded POS system with modern software, allowing instant payments through Visa debit and credit cards from multiple banks.

The process also supports Bangladesh Bank’s designated Smart Bangladesh QR Code (SB QR), allowing payments through mobile financial services like bKash, Nagad, Rocket, and mCash, along with 21 online banking apps and 56 gateways under the National Payment Switch — a total of 78 payment channels.

All collected fines will be transferred directly to the government treasury through the bank’s payment channel.

The digital system will also reduce the need for retaining physical documents in most cases.

Rajshahi district superintendent of police Farzana Islam inaugurated the event, while Community Bank’s head of cards Zahir Ahmed attended as a special guest.

The event, conducted under the supervision of In-Service Training Center sub-inspector Kamrun Nahar and RMP assistant police commissioner for traffic Md Mofakkarul Islam, was attended by the bank’s senior officials and police officers of different ranks.
