
Southeast Bank PLC and North South University have recently launched exclusive VISA co-branded credit and prepaid cards, said a press release.
Southeast Bank managing director (current charge) Abidur Rahman Chowdhury, NSU vice-chancellor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury and Visa country manager – Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan Sabbir Ahmed launched the cards during an inaugural event held at NSU campus at Bashundhara in the capital Dhaka.
As part of the initiative, Southeast Bank has introduced co-branded credit cards for NSU faculty and staff and co-branded prepaid cards for students.
Faculty members and staff can enjoy lifetime annual fee waiver on their credit cards, along with suitable credit limits based on eligibility.
Students will benefit from a first-year annual fee waiver on their prepaid cards, along with a Tk 300 cashback on their first transaction.
The prepaid cards are specially designed to support both domestic and international payments, including online transactions such as foreign university application fees, thereby promoting financial inclusion and convenience for students, the release said.
Among others, NSU registrar Ahmed Tazmeen, treasurer Abdur Rob Khan, Southeast Bank senior executive vice-president and cards head Md Abdus Sabur Khan, senior executive vice-president and information technology division head Kashef Rahman, senior vice-president and company secretary — board division Mamunur Rashid, training institute director Sayma Banu and Visa business development director — South Asia Ashish Chakraborty were in attendance.
According to the release, the campaign reflects a strong collaboration between Southeast Bank and North South University, aimed at expanding access to secure, convenient and digital financial solutions for the academic community.
