
The advisory council committee on government purchase at a meeting on Tuesday approved separate proposals to procure one cargo of liquefied natural gas and 30,000 tonnes of fertiliser.
Vitol Asia Pte Limited of Singapore will supply this year’s 35th LNG cargo at about Tk 531.56 crore with per unit costing $12.62 while Karnaphuli Fertiliser Company will supply 30,000 tonnes of bagged granular urea at about Tk 146.53 crore, costing $397.75 a tonne.
Interim government’s finance adviser Salehuddin Ahmed presided over the meeting at the secretariat in the capital Dhaka.
The meeting also approved two Power Division proposals that will allow the appointment of Ideal Electrical Enterprise to implement two packages — one at Tk 142.23 crore and the other at Tk 144.94 crore — of the Dhaka–Mymenshing power expansion project by the Bangladesh Power Development Board.
Besides, the meeting also approved one proposal each from the Road Transport and Highways Division and the Local Government Division.
Under the RHD proposal, Moyenuddin (Bashi) Limited will be appointed to implement a package of the Satkhira-Shakhipur-Kaliganj road development at Tk 106.88 while under the LGD proposal, the joint venture of Md Rashanuzzaman Peter and M/S Hamim International will be appointed for 34 primary schools cum flood centres at Tk 241.88 crore under a project titled resilient infrastructure for adaption and vulnerability.
Earlier, the finance adviser also presided over a meeting of the advisory council committee on government affairs and approved three proposals, including two separate ones from the cultural ministry to purchase services and goods directly for arranging programmes on the occasion of the first anniversary of the July mass uprising.
One of the proposals was related to five drone shows by local and Chinese firms and the other was linked to diverse programmes, such as publication of graffiti books, display of posters, seminars and screenings of documentaries in 63 districts and the capital Dhaka.
The interim government assumed office on August 8, 2024, after the ouster of the authoritarian Awami League regime in July mass uprising.
Another proposal linked to selling off about 3.45 acres of land of Latif Bawany Jute Mills at Hajipur Mouja under
Narsingdi Sadar upazila under direct bid was approved in principle at the meeting.
