
A delegation of Shippers’ Council of Bangladesh led by its chairman Md Rezaul Karim visited Payra Port at Kalapara, Patuakhali on Wednesday, says a press release.
During the visit, SCB senior vice-chairman Ariful Ahsan; directors Arzu Rahman Bhuiyan; Syed Md Bakhtiar; Ziaul Islam; Ataur Rahman Khan and Payra Port deputy project director, Lt Cdr Raim Jarif were present.
In the beginning, SCB delegation inspected the management and development infrastructure of this
potential Port of the country and appreciated the operation of Payra Port through its deep access,
hassle free berthing, congestion free, minimum logistics cost, zero downtime and use of environment friendly equipment. In addition, the delegation emphasized on making Payra Port more dynamic, modernizing, increasing channel depth and creating a good road communication system and expressed hope that if the port is fully implemented through these activities, there will be a huge expansion of the country’s trade and commerce and the pressure on Chittagong port will be reduced.
