Elon Musk鈥檚 SpaceX plans to invest $1.5 billion in Vietnam, the country鈥檚 official news agency said, as the country looks to boost its attractiveness as an investment destination for the world鈥檚 biggest companies.
On a visit to New York this week, the country鈥檚 top leader To Lam met SpaceX鈥檚 Tim Hughes, who said he 鈥榟ighly values鈥� Vietnam鈥檚 potential for the company鈥檚 鈥榮atellite internet plan鈥�, VNA said Wednesday.
The government was 鈥榳eighing the investment proposal鈥�, VNA reported Lam as saying.
Hughes 鈥� senior vice president for global business and government affairs at SpaceX 鈥� reportedly said the firm aimed to inject $1.5 billion into the country in the near future.
Hanoi has asked SpaceX to 鈥榗losely coordinate with relevant Vietnamese agencies and partners to complete investment procedures鈥�, VNA said.聽
