Prince Alwaleed bin Khaled bin Talal, widely known as the ‘Sleeping Prince,’ passed away on Saturday after spending nearly 20 years in a coma, following a serious traffic accident in London.

The news was reported by Saudi Gazette, quoting his father, Prince Khaled bin Talal, who announced his son’s death.

Prince Khaled stated that funeral prayers will be held on Sunday at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh, following the Asr prayer.

Prince Alwaleed fell into a complete coma after a traffic accident in 2005, during his studies in the United Kingdom.

Despite being under close medical supervision and showing brief moments of limited movement, he never regained full consciousness.

Throughout the years, Prince Khaled consistently refused to remove his son from life support, expressing unwavering faith that the decision over life and death rests solely in God’s hands.

According to Gulf News, Prince Alwaleed was born in April 1990 and was the eldest son of Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, a prominent Saudi royal and nephew of billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal.

The accident occurred when Prince Alwaleed was just 15 years old and studying as a military cadet in London.

It caused severe brain injuries and internal bleeding, resulting in a prolonged coma that lasted nearly two decades, the report added.

His long medical struggle came to an end with the announcement of his passing on Saturday.
