Writer Monjurul Huq-written book titled A Time to Dream and a Time of Despair was launched at a programme at the Garden Gallery Cosmos of Baridhara in Dhaka on Monday.

Published by Cosmos Books and supported by Cosmos Foundation, the book launch event also featured an exhibition of 17 illustrations of the book by artist Sourav Chowdhury and poetry recitals by Shatabdi Saha,


Editor of Prothom Alo Matiur Rahman spoke as chief guest, while Dhaka University drawing and painting department emeritus professor Rafiqun Nabi, cultural activist Mofidul Haque and researcher-journalist Afsan Chowdhury, among others, spoke as guests at the event.ÌýÌýÌý

Chairman of Cosmos Foundation Enayetullah Khan delivered welcome speech at the event.

The book sheds light on the War of Independence and its impact on the freedom fighters like the writer. The book begins on the day from March 24 and ends on December 17.

He also mentioned a book titled A Story of My Time, focusing on the journey of his generation towards the war. Ìý

‘I intentionally ended that narrative on March 24, 1971, the day when we were taken to a secret location outside Dhaka for practicing live firing with an archaic 303 rifle,’ said Monjurul Huq, adding that writing glorious days of the history of the war was his struggle against the collective forgetfulness.Ìý
