Somoy Prokashon owner and editor Farid Ahmed, writer and researcher Mohammad Ali khan and filmmaker Jean-Nesar Osman spoke at the event as special guests while general secretary of the Parishad Dipu Siddiqui delivered the welcome speech at the programme which was moderated by Marin Naznin.
‘His novel Kritadaser Hashi is still published and read by the younger generation although it was written 60 years ago while many readers do not know about his poetry due to less promotion. He was one of the anti-fascist writers in the country,’ said Farid Ahmed.Ìý
Jean-Nesar Osman said that artists, authors and creative personalities should promote their works, not political or communal identity.
‘Shawkat Osman was my teacher at Dhaka College, who taught Bengali literature but he discussed politics, language, philosophy and the contemporary world,’ said Abul Quasem Fazlul Haque.Ìý
‘Writers like Shawkat Osman are not coming into our literature because now writers aim to entertain readers instead of telling about life and responsibilities,’ he said.
