
Bangla Academy Award-winning fiction writer and essayist Hosenuddin Hosein died while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital in Jashore on Monday.
He was 83. He is survived by two sons and two daughters.
The writer’s widow, Hasina Aktar, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that the writer breathed his last at around 4:05pm at the CMH.
‘He was admitted to a private hospital on May 14. As his condition deteriorated, he was being given ventilation support at the CMH on Monday. He was suffering from kidney problem,’ she said, adding that his namaz-e-janaza would be held in Jashore after Juhr prayers. .
Born on February 28 in 1941 in Jashore, Hosenuddin Hosein started writing poems in his early years in the ‘60s. After that, he started writing fictions.
His literary works include Joogmanas, Banglar Bidroho, Plaban Ebong Ekjan, Sadhuhatir Lokjon, Indur O Manushera and Samaj Sahitya Darshan.
For his contribution to Bangla literature, he received several awards, including the Bangla Academy Award in 2021.
