
Bangladesh suffered a 5-1 defeat against defending champions South Korea in their third and final Pool B match of the 12th AHF Men’s Asia Cup at Bihar Sports University Hockey Stadium in Rajgir, India, on Monday.
Bangladesh began the tournament with a 4-1 defeat to Malaysia before beating Chinese Taipei 8-3 in the second match on Saturday, which assured third place in the four-team pool.
They will play fifth to eighth place-deciding match scheduled to be held on September 4 at the same venue.
In the match, Bangladesh conceded two goals within the first quarter and two more within seven minutes of the second quarter.
After going 4-0 down in the 22nd minute, Sohanur Rahman Sabuj pulled a goal back for Bangladesh in the same minute.
The men in red and green conceded a fifth goal from a penalty stroke just before the final whistle.
Bangladesh were invited to the tournament as a replacement of Pakistan, who withdrew from the continental-competition due to security concerns.
