Indian Border Security Force picked up a Bangladeshi youth from the Nitpur border area under Porsha upazila in Naogaon early Wednesday.

The detainee was identified as Ayub Ali, 35, son of Abdul Mannan of Gopalganj village in Nitpur union.

Local sources said, Ayub went to work in a field near border pillar no. 231 at dawn when BSF members from the Kedaripara Camp detained him and took him to India.

However, lieutenant colonel Mohammad Ariful Islam Masum, commander of 16-Border Guard Bangladesh, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that they learned that BSF members detained Ayub inside the Indian territory when he along with others entered the neighbouring country to smuggle cattle.

‘Diplomatic and administrative efforts are underway to bring him back,’ he added.
