New Zealand entrepreneur and humanitarian Sandra McKersey has visited Bangladesh, a country she describes as her ‘second home’, reaffirming her commitment to social welfare and business partnership.

During the visit, Sandra spent time at the Alhaj Amijuddin Orphanage in Narayanganj, where she has long supported initiatives for orphan children, said a press release on Sunday.

She shared lunch with the orphans, engaged in conversations and encouraged them about their future.

Her contributions over the years include helping to establish dormitory facilities and an auditorium that also benefits the local community.

Alongside her philanthropic work, Sandra is engaged in Bangladesh’s economic life through Sandra Foods International Ltd, a joint venture with managing director Tasbih Hussain.

The company today employs over 300 people and operates 13 outlets in Dhaka and Narayanganj, focusing on providing quality food items for both everyday dining and home bakeries.

Speaking during her visit, Sandra McKersey, chairman, Sandra Foods, said, ‘Bangladesh has given me a sense of belonging that goes beyond borders. Whether through community work in Narayanganj or through Sandra Foods, my aim is to create opportunities and stand alongside the people of this country as it moves forward.’

Sandra McKersey’s contributions have been recognised with the Queen’s Service Medal, awarded by the Queen Elizabeth II, for her service to education and community development.

Her latest visit underscores an enduring bond with Bangladesh—rooted in compassion, shared growth, and mutual respect.
