The six-day long joint exercise titled ‘Operation Pacific Angel 25-3’ with participation of Bangladesh Air Force and US Pacific Air Force concluded on Thursday at BAF Base Zahurul Haque in Chattogram.

In the direction of armed forces division, the joint exercise was held under the management of Bangladesh Air Force, said a press release of Inter Service Public Relations issued on Friday.


Assistant chief of air staff Air Vice-Marshal, Ops, Javed Tanvir Khan delivered the closing speech and joined in a photo session with the participants of the two countries.

Representatives of the US embassy, senior military and civil officials of the US Pacific Air Force, Air Force officials and senior officials of the three services were present at the ceremony.

The exercise began on September 14. The US Pacific Air Force arranges various training exercises in different countries around the world every year.

The exercise was basically aimed at train up the air force to arrange different exercise programme to ensure maximum use of the BAF helicopters and transport aircrafts in emergencies and adverse situations.

A C-130J transport aircraft of the BAF, one Mi-17 helicopter and two C-130J aircraft of the Pacific Air Force, 150 members of the BAF and 92 members of the US Pacific Air Force participated in the operation pacific angel. Besides, members of the Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Navy also participated in the exercise.

‘Such joint exercises will not only help exchange the professional skill and experience of the air forces of the two countries, but also enhance interoperability, strengthen strategic cooperation and further strengthen the bond of trust and confidence,’ the release read.

Side by side such exercises would give a foundation to build a mutual humane and constant relation between the two countries to serve the local people in coordination with the doctors, engineers and logistic experts of the air force, it added.
