Six-time champions Abahani Limited were held to a goalless draw by Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society in one of the two matches on the opening day of the 10-team Bangladesh Premier League at the Birshreshtha Flight Lt Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on Friday.

The day鈥檚 other game between Fakirerpool Young Men鈥檚 Club and promoted Arambagh Krira Sangha also ended in a 1-1 draw at the Shaheed Miraj-Tapan Stadium in Manikganj.


Fakirerpool鈥檚 Egyptian midfielder Mostafa MA Hammad scored the equaliser in the second minute of injury time after Nigerian forward Yaya John Denapo gave Arambagh the lead in the 60th minute.

In the remaining three games of the first round today, defending champions Mohammedan Sporting Club will play Fortis Football Club at the Kings Arena in the city, while five-time champions Bashundhara Kings will face promoted PWD Sports Club at the Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur, and Police Football Club will take on Brothers Union in Munshiganj.

All three games are scheduled to begin at 2:45pm.
