
Ghanaian forward Samuel Boateng struck a treble as Mohammedan Sporting Club made a winning start in the Federation Cup after beating Police Football Club 3-2 in their Group B match at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla, on Tuesday.
In the other game of the same group, defending champions Bashundhara Kings were held to a 1-1 draw by Fortis Football Club at the Kings Arena in the city.
In Cumilla, Police FC dominated the first half 2-1 before Mohammedan managed to score two more goals in the second half.
Police went ahead 1-0 with their defender Isa Faysal scoring in the ninth minute, while Mohammedan equalised just two minutes later through Samuel.
Police FC regained the lead in the 30th minute when their Brazilian defender Danilo Augusto scored but Samuel levelled the score in the 47th minute before scoring the winning goal in the 73rd minute.
In Dhaka, after a goalless first half, Brazilian forward Dorielton Gomes scored in the 49th minute while defender Tariq Kazi put the ball into his own net five minutes from the final whistle.
