Bangladesh women’s national team captain Afeida Khandaker and midfielder Sapna Rani have joined Royal Thimphu College Women’s Football Club ahead of the AFC Women’s Champions League preliminary round on Friday.
The Bangladesh’s duo will represent Bhutan Women’s National League side and will feature in Group D matches in Laos from August 25 to 31.
Afeida and Sapna were part of Bangladesh’s three consecutive triumphs as they helped the side qualify for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 and AFC U-20 Asian Cup 2026 for the first time and retained the SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship title in June-August.
Three other Bangladesh national team players, forwards Tohura Khatun, Shamsunnahar (jr) and Shaheda Akter Ripa have already featured for this club in the ongoing Bhutan Women’s National League.
RTC WFC is the only Bhutanese club competing in the AFC Women’s Champions League and will play Kaohsiung Attackers FC of Chinese Taipei on August 25 before facing Naegohyang Women’s FC of North Korea and the Master FC of Laos on August 28 and August 31, respectively.
