Defending champions Bangladesh continued their commanding performance in the SAFF Under-20 Women鈥檚 Championship with a 3-0 win over Bhutan at the Kings Arena Training Ground in the city on Thursday.

Forward Trishna Rani, who scored an injury-time winner in Bangladesh鈥檚 3-2 victory over Nepal on July 13, scored a brace, while super-sub Sapna Rani scored the other goal.

With the win, Peter Butler鈥檚 team remained at the top of the four-team table with 12 points from four games, three ahead of their closest rivals, Nepal, who thrashed Sri Lanka 7-0 in the day鈥檚 first match at the same venue.聽

Bangladesh went to the break with a solitary goal lead as Trishna鈥檚 right-footed drive from the box found the back of the net in the 33rd minute.

Bangladesh had a chance to extend their lead in the 63rd minute; however, Sapna sent her penalty wide of the right post.

Trishna scored her second three minutes later with a right-footed drive from just outside of the box.

Midfielder Sapna made amends for her penalty miss by scoring a stunning 35-yard long-range effort in the 74th minute.

Bangladesh earlier defeated Sri Lanka 9-1 before beating Nepal 3-2 and Bhutan 4-1, while Nepal earned nine points from four games as they earlier defeated Bhutan 6-1 and Sri Lanka 7-0 in their other games.

Bangladesh will play their remaining matches against Sri Lanka and Nepal on July 19 and 21, respectively.

However, Bangladesh forward Sagorika and Nepal defender Simran Rai missed the day鈥檚 match as SAFF extended their suspension following their red cards in the match at the Kings Arena on July 13.

Sagorika and Simran were sent off following a brawl in the 56th minute of the game, and both were supposed to be expelled from one game.

But SAFF on Wednesday extended their punishment to three games and also fined them $500 each, confirmed Bangladesh team manager Mahmuda Akter.
