The Bangladesh national women’s football team took part in their first training session in Yangon, Myanmar, on Thursday ahead of their AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers Group C opener against Bahrain on June 29.
The girls in red and green will play their remaining group matches against hosts Myanmar and Turkmenistan on July 2 and July 5, respectively. All the matches will be held at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon.
According to an audio message received from the Bangladesh Football Federation, the training session went well despite the rainy weather.
All players were in good health and spirits. The coaching staff was satisfied with the team’s energy and focus during the training session.
‘We had our first training session on the ground, and everyone practiced very attentively…. We are practising the way the coach showed us, and all the players are in good shape,’ said Bangladesh captain Afeida Khandakar after the training session on Thursday.
‘The whole team enjoyed the training in the rain. As the team arrived in Myanmar a few days before the tournament, it would be easier for the team to adapt to local conditions,’ she added.
Team assistant coach Mahmuda Akter said after reaching Myanmar safely on Wednesday, the players skipped the first day of ground training due to rain and worked out in the gym at the hotel.
She said the players also faced the same condition as on the first day, but they completed their training in the proper way, and the players were healthy and fit.
