Bangladesh have been placed in Pot 4 for the forthcoming AFC U-23 Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers draw, scheduled to take place in Kuala Lumpur on May 29.

The 44 teams have been divided into five pots and will be allocated into 11 groups following the draw for the qualifiers, which will be hosted by 11 countries from September 1 to 9, stated an AFC media release on Thursday.

Bangladesh are placed with Afghanistan, Mongolia, Guam, Pakistan, Macau, Nepal, Brunei Darussalam, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and the Northern Mariana Islands, determined by the respective teams’ rankings.

Uzbekistan, Japan, Iraq, South Korea, and Australia were pitted in Pot 1, while Kuwait, Iran, Turkmenistan, Malaysia, Bahrain, Palestine, Syria, and Yemen are in Pot 2, and Oman, Singapore, India, Lebanon, Laos, Timor-Leste, Chinese Taipei, the Philippines, and Hong Kong are in Pot 3.

The teams that will serve as hosts of the qualifiers will be separately allocated to a hosts pot to ensure that they are drawn into different groups.

The host's pot is comprised of Vietnam, Qatar, Thailand, Jordan, Tajikistan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, China, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Kyrgyzstan.

Upon completion of their qualifying battles, the 11 group champions and the four best runners-up teams will join the automatically qualified host nation, Saudi Arabia, to compete in the final event in January 2026.
