The 27-year-old central midfielder, Shamit, received a Bangladeshi passport on Monday. He also got clearance from the Canadian Soccer Association on Friday.
The BFF earlier on April 22 provided a birth registration certificate to Shamit, who expressed his interest to represent the Bangladesh national team on April 11, two weeks after Hamza Choudhury debuted for Bangladesh against India on March 25.
With FIFA's approval, Shamit now has a high chance of being included in Javier Cabrera's squad for the forthcoming third-round match of the AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers against Singapore on June 10 in Dhaka.Ìý
