Nigerian forward Emmanuel Sunday scored a brace as Mohammedan Sporting Club earned a 3-1 win over Police Football Club in their return leg tie of the Bangladesh Premier League at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla on Friday.

In the other day鈥檚 match, buoyed by a brace from local forward Foysal Ahmed Fahim, defending champions Bashundhara Kings beat six-time champions Abahani Limited 2-0 at the Kings Arena.


Meanwhile, forward Abu Sufian Yousuf Sifat struck the match-winner deep inside the injury time for promoted Dhaka Wanderers Club against Fortis Football Club at the Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur.

The day鈥檚 results did not hamper the positions in the 10-team table, with all six sides playing out their 13th game on the day.

Mohammedan remained on top with 34 points, seven points clear ahead of the second-placed Abahani, followed by Kings from three points behind.

Police FC are in fifth place with 19 points, Fortis FC are in seventh place with 18 points, and Wanderers could not overcome the relegation threat yet, managing seven points to place ninth.

In their first leg matches, Mohammedan beat Police FC 3-1 in Mymensingh while Kings suffered a solitary goal defeat to Abahani in Cumilla and Fortis FC played 1-1 draw against Wanderers at the Kings Arena in December 2024.

In Cumilla on Friday, Police FC kept Mohammedan at bay in the first half before Emmanuel pushed his side ahead in the 52nd minute.

Police FC returned to the game when their Brazilian defender Danilo Augusto converted a spot kick in the 65th minute.

At one stage, it seemed the match was heading for a draw until Mohammedan鈥檚 Uzbekistani midfielder Muzaffar Muzaffarov scored from a spot kick two minutes from the stipulated time. Emmanuel completed his brace in the 90th minute.聽

In Dhaka, forward Rakib Hossain assisted Fahim on both occasions, helping Kings earn their second consecutive win against Abahani within a week in the top-tier domestic competitions.

Earlier, Kings beat Abahani 5-3 on penalties in the Federation Cup final in Mymensingh on April 29.聽

Fahim scored in each half of the game, giving his team the lead in the 16th minute with a right-footed shot into the net after a back pass from Rakib inside the box.

In the 49th minute, Fahim scored another following Rakib鈥檚 assist. The match saw three red cards after a heated exchange involving Kings midfielder Sohel Rana (Sr), defender Saad Uddin and Abahani defender Shahin Ahammad.聽
