Forward Su Yu-Hsuan struck a hat-trick as Chinese Taipei showed why they are 100 places ahead of Bangladesh in the FIFA rankings with a 4-0 win in the first of the two FIFA women鈥檚 international friendlies at the Kings Arena in the city on Friday.

The hosts went 3-0 down inside the 25th minute against a side that had defeated Thailand and India to advance to the quarter-final of 2023 Asian Games before losing to Uzbekistan 2-1 in extra-time in the last-eight battle.

Bangladesh under the tutelage of new coach Peter Butler started impressively, pressing from the beginning, but lost ground as the match progressed.

The Bangladeshi defenders couldn鈥檛 keep up with the pace of visiting team forwards, who exploited the big space behind the backline.

Yu-Hsuan gave her side the lead in the 11th minute with a left-footed drive from the box after Bangladesh defender Afeida Kahndakar failed to stop midfielder Ting Chia-Ying鈥檚 shot from the left flank.

Defender Su Sin-Yun doubled the margin in the 18th minute by heading home the ball on a corner from the left side by midfielder Hsu Yi-Yun.

Yu-Hsuan got her second and the team鈥檚 third goal in the 25th minute with a tap in from the box following a free-kick by Yi-Yun from the left flank.

Bangladesh keeper Rupna Chakma made at least three vital stops in the first half, denying Yu-Hsuan, forward Li Yi-Wen, and defender Chen Ying-Hui in the 13th, 41st, and 44th minutes, respectively.

The hosts looked good at the restart with two substitutions as midfielder Sanjida Akhter and defender Shamsunnahar (Sr) came in replacing veteran forward and captain Sabina Khatun and defender Masura Parvin, respectively.聽聽

Yu-Hsuan completed her hat-trick in the 56th minute, capitalising on yet another weak clearance from Afeida.

Bangladesh forward Tohura Khatun, midfielders Sanjida, Monika Chakma, Sumaya Matsushima, and Ritu Porna Chakma wasted the energy with some of their fruitless attempts.

Midfielder Munki Akhter and forward Suravi Akanda Prity made their international debuts in the game for Bangladesh.

The second match will be held at the same venue on June 3.
