
Filmmakers, critics and industry insiders on Friday paid tribute to national award-winning filmmaker, writer and teacher Zahidur Rahim Anjan at a commemorative event at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Â
The event was organised by Bangladesh Short Film Forum at the National Art Gallery auditorium of the BSA moderated by the forum general secretary, Rakibul Hasan.
Filmmaker Zahidur Rahim Anjan who is known for his film Meghmallar (2014) and Galpa Songkhep (2018) died on February 24 while undertaking treatment in Bengaluru in India.
Filmmaker Manzare Hassin Murad, Bhaskar Bandyopadhyay, Kha Ma Harun, artist Dhali Al Mamoon, poet Sajjad Sharif, critic Moinuddin Khaled, Salimullah Khan, filmmaker Enayet Karim Babul, N Rashed Chowdhury, Tarun Ghosh, Nurul Alam Atique, Akram Khan, Faridur Rahman, actor Shahiduzzaman Selim, among others, shared their memories with Zahidur Rahim Anjan.
President of the BSFF Zahirul Islam said that the former president of the forum was well-known for his teaching and organising capability besides making films.
A documentary based on Zahidur Rahim Anjan and produced by Bangladesh Short Film Forum was also screened at the event.
The event ended with a special screening of Zahidur Rahim Anjan-directed government grant-winning film Meghmallar.
The film won a total of five awards in five different categories.
His latest film titled Chander Amabasya based on Syed Waliullah’s novel is expected to be released this year.Â
