A documentary film on three cattle breeders from Africa filmed in Switzerland by award-winning Swiss filmmaker Juerg Neuenschwander was screened on Friday at the Cineplex Hall of Bangladesh National Museum.
Organised by the Female Communication, the screening also featured an open question and answer session with the director moderated by filmmaker and managing director of the FemComb Nargis Akter.
‘The film depicted the journey of three cattle breeders and milk traders from West Africa to experience farming in Switzerland. I hope the audience of Bangladesh can relate to the film because of their long tradition of farming,’ said Juerg Neuenschwander.
Nargis Akter said that FemCom works to improve communication for development sectors and also skill development of the women filmmakers of the country.
‘A professor at the Bern Academy of the Art in Switzerland, Juerg Neuenschwander has experience of working in Bangladesh as a documentary filmmaker. The event aimed at creating a strong understanding of documentary film for our young filmmakers and audience,’ said Nargis Akter.
Juerg Neuenschwander‘s work focuses on people who take control of their lives. His films tell stories of change and resistance; of the value of the community’s exclusion and independence. His film titled Sooner or Later was nominated for the International Documentary Award in Los Angeles.
