
The directorial venture of filmmaker Biplab Sarkar’s government grant-winning film titled Agantuk will have its Australia premiere in the Indian Film Festival Melbourne in Australia today.
‘The 15th edition is being held from August 15 to 25. “Agantuk” is scheduled to be premiered today,’ said Biplab Sarkar.
The story of ‘Agantuk’ revolves around a 10-year-old boy named Kajal who lives with his mother and a sick grandmother.
Kajol’s father, who has been missing for a long time, suddenly returns one day, and the film moves forward.
Ferdausi Majumdar, Sahana Rahman Sumi, Ratan Dev, Mahmud Alam, Ehan, Rafsan, Hridoy, Hasimun and Naima Tasnim played different roles in the film.
Produced by Tajul Haque, Ramya Rahim Chowdhury and Biplab Sarkar, ‘Agantuk’ received a government grant in the fiscal year of 2019-20.
Mazaharul Razu handled the cinematography, while Wakilur Rahman and Saddam Khandaker Joy contributed to art direction. The sound design was crafted by Sukanta Majumdar, and editing was done by Sankhajit Biswas and Biplob Sarkar.
Earlier, the debut full-length feature film of Biplob Sarkar had its world premiere in the main competition section of the Busan International Film Festival in 2023. ‘Agantuk’ also won the Prasab Lab DI and Movie Buff Appreciation Award for Best Film in the Viewing Room Recommends category at the Film Bazaar held in Goa, India.
