Akbar Hossain Pathan Farooque

Today is the first anniversary of the death of popular film actor, freedom fighter Akbar Hossain Pathan Farooque, who gained a huge fan following during the golden age of Bangladeshi films.

Born on August 18, 1948 in Dhaka, Farooque acted in 150 films during his career. He conquered hearts of film lovers acting in films, including ‘Abar Tora Manush Ho’, ‘Alor Michhil’, ‘Lathial’, ‘Sujan Sakhi’, ‘Surjagrahan’, ‘Nayanmani’, ‘Golapi Ekhon Trene’, ‘Sareng Bou’, ‘Din Jay Katha Thake’, ‘Noder Chand’, ‘Shahar Theke Dure’, ‘Arshinagar’, ‘Biraj Bou’, ‘Padma Meghna Jamuna’ and ‘Manush Manusher Janya’.


He received National Film Award as Best Actor in a Supporting Role Category for the film ‘Lathial’ in 1975 and Lifetime Achievement Category in 2016.

Akbar Hossain Pathan Farooque passed away while undergoing treatment in Singapore on May 15 in 2023.
