Today is the first anniversary of the death of popular film actor, freedom fighter Akbar Hossain Pathan Farooque, who gained a huge fan following during the golden age of Bangladeshi films.
Born on August 18, 1948 in Dhaka, Farooque acted in 150 films during his career. He conquered hearts of film lovers acting in films, including 鈥楢bar Tora Manush Ho鈥�, 鈥楢lor Michhil鈥�, 鈥楲athial鈥�, 鈥楽ujan Sakhi鈥�, 鈥楽urjagrahan鈥�, 鈥楴ayanmani鈥�, 鈥楪olapi Ekhon Trene鈥�, 鈥楽areng Bou鈥�, 鈥楧in Jay Katha Thake鈥�, 鈥楴oder Chand鈥�, 鈥楽hahar Theke Dure鈥�, 鈥楢rshinagar鈥�, 鈥楤iraj Bou鈥�, 鈥楶adma Meghna Jamuna鈥� and 鈥楳anush Manusher Janya鈥�.
He received National Film Award as Best Actor in a Supporting Role Category for the film 鈥楲athial鈥� in 1975 and Lifetime Achievement Category in 2016.
Akbar Hossain Pathan Farooque passed away while undergoing treatment in Singapore on May 15 in 2023.
