Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast moderately heavy to heavy rainfall in Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions in 24 hours commencing 9:00am on Sunday.

‘Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions,’ said a Met office bulletin.


Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Besides, the low pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining area weakened and merged with the monsoon axis.

The axis of monsoon troughs runs through Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across Southern part of Bangladesh.

One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay.

A low-pressure area is likely to form over northwest Bay and adjoining area during the next 48 hours.

The country’s highest 130 millimeters of rains were recorded in Hatiya of Chattogram in 24 hours till 6:00am on Sunday.
