
The Team Andromeda Space and Robotics Research Organisation of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology has won the world championship in the Global Space Challenge 2025 organised under the auspices of the United States-based National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
More than 40 teams from more than 15 countries participated in this competition organised by Space Teams Academy, said a press release on Saturday.
The competition was held in three categories– elementary, middle school and senior high school. CUET’s Team ASRRO won the senior category by achieving an unprecedented score of 499.8 out of 500.
In the competition, CUET competitors showcased their skills in various fields, including planetary science, spacecraft design, orbital mechanics, remote sensing, entry-descent-landing, extraterrestrial habitats, human and robotic exploration.
In addition to winning the title of world champion, they also won the ‘Best Team Video’ category.
The members of the winning team are – Sajeeb Kumar Kar and Shuvo Ahmed, 4th year students of the department of mechanical engineering; Adil Mubashar, 3rd year student of the department of computer Science and engineering; and Sudipto Banik, 1st year student of the department of electrical and electronic engineering.
The faculty adviser of ‘Team ASRRO’ was CUET research and extension director Professor Sajal Chandra Banik and was sponsored by former CUET vice-chancellor former vice-chancellor of CUET Professor Md Jahangir Alam and MIT scientist Mizanul Haque Chowdhury.
