The impasse in the academic activities in the Khulna University of Engineering and Technology is likely to linger as the teachers on Sunday vowed to continue their boycott of the classes and other academic activities protesting at the assaults on them.

The stalemate reached 89th day on the day, starting on February 19 as a result of a violent clash on February 18 between Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and the Students Against Discrimination over banning on-campus student politics.


On Sunday at an emergency meeting, the teachers聽 also decided to boycott all administrative work except the activities of the disciplinary committee from today.

They also demanded action from the university authorities against the assaulters by 12:00 noon today, warning that or else they would lay siege to the vice-chancellor鈥檚 office.

The KUET students started demonstrations on the campus from April 15, demanding the removal of the then vice-chancellor over allegations of failing to ensure student safety and protesting at temporary expulsion of 37 students.

On April 25, the education ministry removed KUET vice-chancellor Professor Mohammad Mashud and pro-vice-chancellor Professor Sheikh Shariful Alam from their posts and appointed Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology professor Md Hazrat Ali as the KUET鈥檚 acting vice-chancellor on May 1.

The classes were scheduled to resume on May 4, but the teachers refused to conduct classes, demanding punishment of all those involved in assaulting them.聽

KUET teachers association president Professor Md Shahidul Islam told 抖阴精品 on Sunday that they held their urgent meeting as the university authorities failed to meet their demands by May 15.

Apart from boycotting all administrative work save for the disciplinary committee鈥檚 work from today, they also took decisions to press for a roadmap from the authorities to take action against cyber bullying of teachers and fulfil other demands.
