Gazipur Agricultural University has achieved a significant milestone by securing the top position among Bangladesh’s agricultural universities in the Times Higher Education’s Asia University rankings 2025.

The rankings, published on the website of the Times Higher Education on Wednesday, featured 853 universities from 35 countries and regions across Asia, said a press release on Sunday. In the ranking, Gazipur Agricultural University placed in the 351–400 band in Asia, marking it as the highest-ranked agricultural university and third position overall in Bangladesh.


Closely following GAU in the same ranking band are Jahangirnagar University and North South University.

Earlier, in January, GAU had also topped the country in the Times Higher Education World University Subject Rankings 2025 in the Life Sciences category, outperforming all public and private universities in Bangladesh.

Expressing his satisfaction with this achievement, GAU vice-chancellor Professor GKM Mustafizur Rahman said, ‘Securing the highest position among Bangladesh’s agricultural universities in THE Asia University Rankings 2025 is a proud moment for Gazipur Agricultural University.’

‘It is a clear testament to the global recognition of our academic, research and extension initiatives. This outstanding accomplishment is the result of the unwavering dedication, hard work and integrity of our faculty members, researchers, staff and students.’
