
Academic activities at Dhaka University, which were suspended amid the Anti-Discrimination Student movement, may resume in the last week of September.
A final decision on this will be made at the syndicate meeting following discussions in the upcoming academic meeting.
This tentative date was set in a meeting held on Sunday afternoon, chaired by the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan, with the deans, Proctor, Pro Vice Chancellor,department heads, and provosts of the university.
The overall situation on the university campus was reviewed at the meeting. The proposal to resume academic activities in the last week of September, pending syndicate approval was made, according to a press release issued by Dhaka University Public Relations Office.
The meeting insiders said that the possible date of starting classes at Dhaka University is between September 20 and 22.
It was informed at the meeting that the university administration is working tirelessly to ensure discipline and security in the departments, institutes, and halls. The press release reads.
In preparation for resuming academic activities soon, discussions with students at the hall level have already been completed. Similar discussions are ongoing at the department and institute levels as well.It reads more.
On July 17, the Dhaka University authorities suspended academic activities until further notice and asked students to vacate the residential halls.
