In order to ensure the smooth execution of the proposed budget for the financial year 2025-26, the National Board of Revenue has decided to keep all revenue-related departments open on June 21 and 28, both Saturdays.
Usually, Saturdays are government holidays, but to facilitate budget-related activities, the NBR has made this exceptional decision.
The NBR disclosed this information in a press release signed by Umme Ayman Kashmi, second secretary of the Board Administration at聽the NBR.
According to the statement, the notice has been circulated to all relevant departments聽regarding the opening of the NBR and all its affiliated revenue departments, including customs, VAT, and income tax, would remain open on June 21 and 28.
According to the NBR source, after the national budget is聽proposed, various revenue departments have to process a large number of documents, consultations, and submissions related to taxpayers, VAT payers, and import-export operators.
To ensure proper tax services and facilitate the swift implementation of the budget, additional working days have become essential.
For this reason, the decision to keep the offices open on holidays was made.
The government proposed the national budget for FY25 on June 2, and the NBR has already begun effecting its decisions and issuing necessary circulars.
