The Adviser to the Ministry of Labour and Employment, M Sakhawat Hossain, said that all residential hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, shopping malls, and major market shops in Dhaka must compulsorily complete registration under the Bangladesh Labour Act 2006.

A press release said that he revealed this during an exchange of views with officials from the Department of Inspection of Factories and Establishments and the Labour Department on Sunday in the capital.

Section 326 of the BLA states that the establishments must complete their registration.

Inspectors from the DIFE will visit all shops and other business establishments in the Dhaka Metropolitan area and encourage them to complete their registration under the BLA of 2006.

He also said they would take necessary action if the shops and business establishments failed to comply with BLA 2006 by May 20.

Labour secretary AHM Sofiquzzaman and other officials were also present.
