Lawyers Muhammad Mujibur Rahman and Mahmuda Chowdhury have been declared as the president and the general secretary of the council of the Bangladesh Law Society UK recently.
Mujibur has been declared elected unopposed while this is the first time in the history of the society that a female candidate, lawyer Mahmuda, has been elected as the general secretary.
The 12th Annual Conference and executive council election of the society, an organisation of former law department students of Dhaka University, was held on May 3 at The Atrium Hall in East London, said a press release issued on Tuesday.聽 The election commission comprising lawyer solicitor Nurul Amin, lawyer Sabera Ikram and Councillor Mohammad Saifur Rahman Chowdhury declared names of the members of the council.
In addition, special honours were given to 12 members including lawyer Muhammad Mujibur Rahman for their special achievements in the past year.
The outgoing committee president lawyer Shibli Sadiq presided over the conference guided by the secretary, lawyer Kazi Ashiqur Rahman.
The event was attended by the current and former leaders and general members of the society, various professionals, media personalities and others from different cities of the United Kingdom.
