Bangladesh national women’s cricket team’s scheduled tour to India in December has been postponed indefinitely, confirmed BCB director Abdur Razzak on Tuesday.

It was learnt that the Bangladesh Cricket Board received an e-mail from their Indian counterparts regarding the issue.

Without giving any specific reason, the Board of Control for Cricket in India only mentioned that the tour would be rescheduled.

Bangladesh were due to play three ODIs and three T20Is, while the ODI series would have kickstarted the new cycle of the ICC Women’s Championship.

‘Yes, the series has been postponed,’ said BCB director Razzak. ‘It will be rescheduled. The series cannot be scrapped, as it is part of the ICC Future Tours Programme. India will host us later.’

Earlier, India men’s white ball tour of Bangladesh, which was originally set for August this year, was deferred to September 2026.

It was learnt that the prevailing political tension between two countries was a key factor back then. It could be the same this time too.

The Bangladesh national women’s team have recently played in the World Cup that was co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

While Pakistan played all their matches in Colombo, Bangladesh played all their matches except that against Pakistan in India.
