The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Thursday confirmed the names of five participating teams in the forthcoming Bangladesh Premier League after the governing council of the tournament approved the franchises.Ìý
The five teams are – Dhaka Capitals, Chattogram Royals, Rajshahi Royals, Rangpur Riders, and Sylhet Titans.Ìý
‘Following the completion of the franchise registration and evaluation process, the BPL Governing Council has approved the five franchises for participation in the tournament,’ said BCB in a press release on Thursday.
Among them, Dhaka Capitals and Rangpur Riders participated in the last edition of the tournament. Defending champions, Fortune Barishal, pulled out of the tournament previously.Ìý
This is the first time the BPL is set to be held with five teams.Ìý
Three companies were snubbed primarily after 11 Expressions of Interest had been submitted originally. Then on Tuesday, BCB announced the five companies getting the nod.Ìý
However, that was subject to BCB being given the bank guarantee of TK 10 crore.Ìý
