West Indies clinched the three-match T20I series when they beat Bangladesh by 14 runs in the second game at the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram on Wednesday.

The hosts failed to chase down 149 despite Tanzid Hasan’s half-century, as they managed 135-8 in 20 overs. This was Bangladesh’s first series defeat after winning the previous four.Ìý

Bangladesh never looked like they were in the chase, as they struggled from the beginning. West Indies dropped at least four catches, but the hosts couldn’t capitalise on those either.Ìý

After Saif Hassan fell early, Liton Das injected some momentum with his innings of 23 off 17 but couldn’t carry on. Towhid Hridoy made 12 off 14.Ìý

Tanzid, however, recovered from his slow start but couldn’t finish things off, as he fell after making 61 off 48, with Bangladesh still needing 33 off 17.Ìý

Jaker Ali struggled in his stay, where he made 17 off 18, before Shamim Hossain was cleaned up by Jason Holder in the second ball he faced. Akeal Hossain, who took 3-22, closed out the game for the visitors.Ìý

Earlier, the West Indies were cruising after Taskin Ahmed dismissed Brandon King in the second over, while Alick Athanaze and Shai Hope formed a 105-run partnership for the second wicket.Ìý

They both reached their respective fifties in 30 balls and hit three sixes. Between the third and 11th overs, they scored 99 runs at a rate of 11.Ìý

But the table was turned when Nasum Ahmed broke through by dismissing Athanaze, falling for 52 off 33, before Sharfane Rutherford suffered second consecutive golden ducks.Ìý

After Mustafizur Rahman had Hope, who made 55 off 36 following his 46* in the first game, Rishad struck twice to remove Rovman Powell and Jason Holder. The visitors lost five wickets for a mere 12 runs at that point.Ìý

Roston Chase and Romario Shepherd hung on but managed only 44 runs in the last 54 balls, as only two boundaries were hit in the last six.Ìý

Mustafiz finished with a figure of 3-21. Rishad registered 2-20, while Nasum took two for 35.Ìý
