Former Bangladesh national team captain Khaled Mashud resigned from the executive committee of the Cricketers’ Welfare Association of Bangladesh on Sunday.

According to a press release by CWAB, Mashud, who has been elected as a director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, decided to resign from the position to maintain transparency and integrity between the two organisations.

‘It was a great honour and pride for me to serve as an executive member of CWAB,’ Mashud wrote in his resignation letter to the president, Mohammad Mithun.

‘As I have recently been elected as a director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, I am stepping down from my position at CWAB with immediate effect to uphold transparency and integrity between both institutions.’

Mashud was elected unopposed as a CWAB executive member alongside national cricketers Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Earlier, Mashud contested in the BCB election and was elected to be director from Category 3, securing 35 out of 42 valid votes, while his opponent, CWAB’s former general secretary Debabrata Paul, managed seven votes.
