
Aminul Islam, Nazmul Abedeen Fahim, Faruque Ahmed, and Khaled Mashud were among the newly elected directors for four-year tenure in the Bangladesh Cricket Board elections held at a city hotel in Dhaka on Monday.听
The primary results were announced around 6:20pm after the vote casting ended at 4:00pm.
A total of 115 votes were cast out of 156, meaning around 73 per cent of votes were cast 鈥攂oth physical and via postal or e-ballot.听
Apart from Aminul and Fahim, Mukhlesur Rahman from Rajshahi and Hasanuzzaman from Rangpur were elected from Category 1.听
Aminul and Fahim each got 15 votes, while Abdullah Al Reduan Fuad, who announced he would not compete in the elections the previous day, got zero votes.听
Mukhlesur and Hasanuzzaman each got seven votes from their respective divisions.听
From Category 2, three candidates鈥擲hahnyan Tanin, Ishtiak Sadek, and former board president Faruque鈥攅ach got the highest number of 42 votes to get elected.听
Apart from these three, Adnan Rahman Dipon (40 votes), Fayajur Rahman (40), Abul Bashar (40), Amjad Hossain (41), Mokhsedul Kamal (41), M Najmul Islam (34), Manjur Alam (39), Mehrab Alam (41), and Iftekhar Rahman (34) were announced as elected directors from Category 2, representing the Dhaka-based clubs.听
Former national team captain Mashud beat Debabrata Paul by 35-7 votes to be elected from Category 3.听
The National Sports Council also nominated two directors on the board鈥擬 Isfak Ahsan and Yasir Muhammad Faisal Ashik.听
Ahsan Iqbal Chowdhury and Asif Akbar from Chattogram, Abdur Razzak and Julfiqar Ali Khan from Khulna, Rahat Shams from Sylhet, and Shakhawat Hossain from Barishal鈥攁ll from Category One鈥攚ere elected unopposed.听
The elected directors will choose the new board president and two vice-presidents.听
It was learnt that Aminul was set to be elected as the new board president, while Fahim and Faruque were frontrunners for becoming the vice-presidents.听
The final result is scheduled at 9:00pm.听
