Bangladesh captain Liton Das stated that his team was well prepared ahead of the forthcoming Asia Cup following their 2-0 win in the three-match T20I series against the Netherlands at the Sylhet International Stadium on Wednesday.

The third and final match of the series was called off due to rain after Bangladesh scored 164-4 in 18.2 overs.

After winning the first two games comprehensively by eight and nine wickets, respectively, the middle order got the chance to spend some time in the middle.

Liton saw this as a positive sign. He said, ‘In the last two games, some batters didn’t get the opportunity. They have got that today. Obviously, it would have been better had the bowlers got the chance. But we don’t have control over the weather.’

The wicketkeeper-batter also wasn’t bothered due to the fact that the middle order went untested for the better part of the series.

‘You are winning by a good margin in international cricket. It shows how developing you are,’ Liton said.

‘It’s not like everyone needs to bat everyday. There will be some days when everyone has to bat. This is a good sign that every batter didn’t need to bat in the first two games.’

The series was thought to be a good chance for the hosts for their preparation for the Asia Cup. Though the Netherlands couldn’t pose much challenge, Liton remained positive with the preparation.

He said, ‘I think it was positive overall. Everyone got the chance except Saifuddin, as he didn’t bat or bowl. The rest got at least one match.’

‘I think practice is important. But it is more important how much you deliver during the match. The more you play, the more you will develop, and the more your game sense will be developed,’ added Liton.

The Tigers had had a long fitness and practice camp before the series against the Netherlands. According to Liton, the camp would help them in the long run.

‘I think we are well prepared for the Asia Cup. I have said this: the camp was not only for this series. It was held so that we could be prepared for the upcoming series as well. I have never seen a camp as good as this.’

Liton also hailed the facilities in Sylhet for their preparation.

‘You can do a fitness camp in Mirpur too. But the practice we wanted to have was only possible in Sylhet. So I think that it was a good journey,’ he said.

Bangladesh, who are in Group B with Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong, will begin their Asia Cup campaign on September 11 against Hong Kong in Abu Dhabi.
