Bangladesh ‘A’ were beaten by an innings and 12 runs by South Australia on the third day of the four-day match at the DXC Arena in Darwin on Saturday.

Mahidul Islam-led side started the day at 106-3, still trailing by 160 runs and were all out for 254 runs in 83.3 overs. They were limited to just 114 runs in the first innings, while the hosts replied with 380 runs.

Shahadat Hossain, who fought to lift Bangladesh from a precarious position of 6-2 on the second day, was dismissed early on day three after adding just seven more runs to his 42.

Yasir Ali, another unbeaten batter from the previous day, also couldn’t survive long, as he was out for 36.

Captain Mahidul then held the fort for a while with the help of Nayeem Hasan as they added 48 runs for the sixth wicket. Mahidul made 32, while Nayeem scored 25.

Bangladesh became 206-9 in the 76th over as the innings defeat loomed large.

However, Hasan Murad, with the help of last batter Hasan Mahmud (9*), brought the visitors closer to parity.

But Murad was dismissed for 42 runs with his side still 12 runs away from an innings defeat.

Jordan Buckingham took three wickets for the hosts, while Wes Agar, Hanno Jacobs, and Henry Thornton each took two wickets.

This defeat reflected a disappointing tour for Bangladesh ‘A’, as they were knocked out before the semifinal in the Top End T20 series earlier.Â
