Kheyal Roy struck 82 and the bowlers helped Bangladesh Under-15 Boys beat Bangladesh Women’s Green by 41 runs in a rain-curtailed match at the BKSP-3 in the ongoing Women’s Challenge Cup on Friday.

Only 39 overs were possible in the U-15 Boys’ innings, where they made 189-7. The revised target for the Women’s Green was 207 in 39 overs, later reduced to 177 from 30 overs due to further rain.

In reply, Nahida Akter-led team managed 135-7 in the allotted overs despite Rubya Haider’s fifty.

After beating the Women’s Red on Wednesday, the U-15 Boys made an excellent start thanks to their openers, Abdur Rahman and Kheyal.

They put on an opening partnership of 126 runs in 24.3 overs. Kheyal’s innings comprised nine fours, while Rahman hit three fours in his 48-run innings.

However, the spin duo of Rabeya Khan and Sultana Khatun slowed them down, as they lost five wickets for just 33 runs. Captain Bayzid Bostami made 21 runs to lift the boys before rain hit again.

Leg spinner Rabeya took four for 33 runs, while off spinner Sultana grabbed two for 25.

Women’s Green openers Dilara Akter and Sharmin Akhter struggled as they collectively scored six runs from 38 balls.

However, Rubya and Sobhana Mostary made good progress in their third-wicket partnership of 76 runs.

Rubya hit six fours in her innings of  51 runs off 59 balls, while Sobhana made 35 off 56 with three fours.

But none could match their suit thereafter while the required run rate continued to rise.

Mahin Hossain, Alimul Islam, and Abdullah each took three wickets for the U-15 Boys.

Women’s Red will take on the U-15 Boys again on Sunday in the tournament which is being held as a part of the national team’s preparation for the upcoming World Cup scheduled to begin in late September in India and Sri Lanka.Â
