The Netherlands national cricket team is set to tour Bangladesh for a three-match T20 series this month, sources within the Bangladesh Cricket Board confirmed on Thursday.Ìý
It was learnt that the series would take place between August 19 and 25, as the BCB received a positive response from their Netherlands counterparts.Ìý
This will only be the second bilateral T20 series between the two sides since Bangladesh played a two-match series against the Dutch at the Hague in 2012.
Bangladesh were originally supposed to host India for a white-ball series in August, but the BCB and the Board of Control for Cricket in India ‘mutually agreed’ to defer the series to September next year.Ìý
Though no official reasons were given, it was learnt that the BCCI were reluctant to tour Bangladesh due to the current political situation.Ìý
The BCB earlier hinted that they were trying to arrange a series against the Netherlands or Nepal in the vacant window.Ìý
Bangladesh last played against Pakistan in a three-match T20I series, which they won 2-1.Ìý
The proposed Netherlands series will give Liton Das and Co more opportunity to prepare them for the forthcoming Asia Cup, which will begin on September 9 in the UAE.
Bangladesh are slotted in Group B with Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong.Ìý
