‘Keeping things simple and not being confused’ was the message for him from Shaun Tait, said Khaled Ahmed on Thursday while talking about his recent T20 success.Ìý
The 32-year-old Khaled has recently played for the Rangpur Riders in the Global Super League in Guyana, where they finished as runners-up.Ìý
Khaled had a good outing there, as he took 11 wickets at an average of 10.90 and with an economy of 7.82 from four innings, including two four-fors.Ìý
Khaled, who made his T20I debut against Pakistan in June this year, had a conversation with the national team bowling coach, Tait.Ìý
Tait recently dubbed him ‘a three-format’ bowler despite Khaled having so far played only three limited-over games. But he continued his form in T20s.Ìý
Khaled said that Tait’s message helped him to gain success.Ìý
'I speak with Shaun Tait. He just says one thing, which I’ve also told in the BPL, ’Khaled told reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday.Ìý
‘He told me to play simply and not to be confused. Because if you are confused, many things can be wayward. He told me to keep things simple as much as I can.’
'I talk with our local coaches like Nazmul [Hossain] and Talha [Jubair] bhai too. I asked Nazmul bhai what could be good for me before the match. He said the same thing—to think about how I can make a comeback in each over,’ added Khaled.Ìý
Despite gaining success in the GSL, it would not be easy for Khaled to break into the national team in the white ball formats.
But he wants to see the competition as a positive sign for the country.Ìý
‘See, if you are in a competition, then you will be more eager to work hard. I can say from my point of view, I have tried to improve my fitness so that I can compete with others. This motivates me,’ he said.Ìý
But whether he can get a chance or not, Khaled thinks Bangladesh have a strong chance in the forthcoming Asia Cup, which will be held in the UAE in September.Ìý
'I believe that we are a team that can play in the Asia Cup final. The group we are in, we can go through if we win two to three matches,’ he said.Ìý
